The ensemble, titled The Brighter the Sunlight, the Darker the Shadows, consists of 24 drawings and collages. They were inspired by photographs taken during a walk in the Japanese Garden in Vilvoorde on a sunny autumn day.  It was not the bright sunlight, but the shadows, that caught my attention. I began by making studies and drawings, primarily attempting to isolate and explore the shapes of the shadows. Using the analogue/digital collage technique and various drawing materials allows me to work freely each time. Shadows create depth and light sets the mood. Attractive compositions give the collages a harmonious look and draw the viewer's attention to the right place.
